Standards & Certificate for plastic

The core business since 1985 of LTP is Sheet Plastics milling, bending and mouting. A proprietary and innovative process that is inspired by the technologies used for wood or metal.

The innovation of this process, i.e.« the implementation of a new or significantly improved production or distribution method. »

was mainly driven by the search for a raw material to manufacture “enclosures” with a lower mass than metal.

What are the advantages of plastic compared to other materials?

The advantages of plastic are:
  • Weight reduction: facilitating the handling of the device and and transport costs saving
  • Possibilities of working the thickness for improved aesthetics: chamfering, rounding, decorative groove
  • Better suitability of the material to the environment: Medical & Paramedical, as well as Service & IoT
There are applications for which the use of metal may be required:
  • Unsupervised public areas exposed to vandalism
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions (seaside, alpine)
  • Specific need for enhanced mechanical strength

What is the mass of plastic compared to wood, cardboard, aluminum or steel?

Mass is the amount of matter contained in an object. The greater the mass of a body, the smaller the change produced by an applied force. It should not be confused with weight, even though in everyday language we use weight instead of mass. The mass of an object does not vary depending on where in the universe it is measured. On the moon, the same object presses less hard on the ground where it is placed, (its weight is lower) but its mass is the same.

Here are the values for the mass of different materials:

The mass of the plastic is expressed via a spectrum that includes ABS, PS, Polycarbonate, PMMA and PVC.

Can you provide a Certificate of Conformity?

Yes, LTP provides a certificate with each delivery. Each shipment (parcel or pallet) is accompanied by a signed delivery note with the following annotation:

We declare that the product [Technical File (DT)] mentioned above, complies with the requirements of the contract and that, after verification and testing, it meets in all aspects, the requirements specified in the standard NF L 00-015C, barring exceptions, reservations or exemptions listed in this declaration of conformity. This delivery note serves as a certificate of conformity. It certifies that the product conforms to the DT and that it has undergone checks, during and at the end, as specified in our internal procedures. These controls are archived until the next production run and can be consulted on our premises.

Today our core business is SHEET PLASTICS PROCESSING, but via our MULTITECHNOLOGY offer, LTP has the capacity to complete this offer with parts manufactured via other partner network, according to the customer’s needs.
We have also put in place an organisation, procedures, and skills to meet the requirements of standards. Today we can design and manufacture customised plastic enclosure projects within the following standards and requirements:

Can you provide a Certificate of Plastic Conformity?

Finally for specific mechanical resistance needs, we use polycarbonate. For special chemical resistance needs, we use PVC. The windows are made of PMMA or transparent polycarbonate. The use of each material is defined in your unique Technical Project File (DT) and confirmed via the delivery note as a Certificate of Plastic Conformity.
